[YesAuto racing release] At the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, Audi not only brought the brand new Audi R8 V10 and R8 V10 plus, there was also a “guy” beside them, the brand new Audi R8 LMS car.
The Audi R8 LMS race car is based on the new Audi R8 V10 model and is built in accordance with the FIA GT3 group rules. The weight of the car is 1225kg, which is 25kg lighter than the previous model, but the torsional stiffness of the car body is increased by 39%. At the same time, there are also many improvements in aerodynamics. The entire chassis of the car is integrated with the rear diffuser, and the rear wheel arches on both sides are also connected. The size of the rear spoiler has been reduced compared to the previous model to reduce air resistance. In addition, in terms of safety, Audi optimized the structure of the front body, adding energy-absorbing units and adding an escape door on the roof.
In terms of power, the new Audi R8 LMS is equipped with a 5.2-liter V10 engine with a maximum power of 585 horsepower. It is matched with a newly developed 6-speed sequential gearbox (with paddle shifters). The new car is expected to participate in this year's Nürburgring 24-hour endurance race and Spa 24-hour endurance race. (Compilation/Auto House Guo Feng)
