[YesAuto Connected Travel] For China's smart car industry, this is the era of hundreds of scholars. With the launch of the Internet car concept in 2016, China Smart Car Federation has completely entered the fast lane. It is also from that time that Chinese brands, whether old brands or new car manufacturers, have deployed smart car companies. For these Chinese brands that seize the opportunity In other words, they really stand on the commanding heights of propaganda by virtue of the advantages of smart car association. On the other hand, overseas brands, whether they are imported or joint ventures, often fail to catch up with the express train of the intelligent vehicle association due to the issue of permission liberalization or technology maturity and stability.

In the past five years, more and more overseas brands have realized the problem, or made up for their shortcomings through CarPlay or the collection of embedded applications in the system. If we look at the test data of nearly 80 cars from Autohome Smart Cars, we can also clearly find that overseas brands are trying to catch up.

Hardware and interaction logic are what overseas brands are good at. The test data of Autohome Smart Car Link also shows that in two years, overseas brand models have obvious advantages in screens, meters, buttons, and interaction logic. There are also some models in the first echelon (top ten). But if it turns to the dimension of function realization, these overseas brands are often thrown away by Chinese brands. So far, from the test data, my country's smart car industry has fully entered the era of entertainment car networking, and is gradually changing to the next stage. As one of China's largest auto shows, Shanghai Auto Show has joined hands with more than 250 models this time. The new car is aimed at Chinese consumers. It is not only a feast for car fans, but also an opportunity for car manufacturers and Tier1 to showcase their new car and new technologies to the world.

Based on the above background, we also want to see what stage the leading overseas auto brands and their popular new cars have reached in terms of the localization of smart car linkages. Based on the popularity and topicality, we select several overseas brands, and at the same time they bring more or less brand new models equipped with the latest systems or move to the smart cockpit under the system at the auto show.

First, let's take a look at the traditional Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi. Their representative models are Mercedes-Benz EQS, BMW iX, and SAIC Audi A7L.

Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi did not really open up their latest in-vehicle system experience at this auto show, but from the information we know so far, BMW’s iDirve 8 has a more original flavor, whether it is the entire interface design layout and Function, or application level, today's iDirve 8 is closer to the usage habits of Chinese users.

After talking about the troika of luxury brands, let's talk about the more conservative Japanese. Both Nissan and Toyota at the Shanghai Auto Show brought their most popular SUV products, and Honda brought the smart cockpit equipped with the third-generation Honda Connect to the booth. Let's take a look at how well the relatively conservative Japanese brands have done in the localization of the Auto Union under the existing information.

Judging from the current information, Nissan and Honda both have grand plans for localization. The former is confident to open up the on-board system. From an experience point of view, it is in line with the top products of the entertainment Internet of Vehicles era. In the car association test, it will definitely be in the middle and upper reaches of the standard. Although Honda is still in the cockpit display stage, the concept and the participants behind it also make me look forward to it. However, the cockpit display is only a display, and the actual car effect in the future can explain everything.

So let me say back to Toyota. Because there is too little information about the new system, we also guessed through Highlander’s central control design and the Camry’s system. Localized applications are indeed available, but as for layout, UI design and even It is still difficult to judge whether smart home or more advanced voice functions are available.

I am very surprised by the in-vehicle system of the Polar Fox Alpha S Huawei Hi version brought by Huawei, and the surprise is not the application level. More because it has the shadow of Huawei from the inside to the outside. If we compare the current Chinese smart car industry to a hundred contending, then the emergence of Huawei is likely to end this era. As for the reason, my guess is that because Huawei is Huawei from the inside out. A Tier1 with two forward-looking areas of smart cockpit and smart driving, and both software and hardware can be self-produced, it is a bit scary.

But also combined with the overseas brands we mentioned earlier, you can find that they are more at the application level in the localization of the car association. Music and map navigation are connected to the applications we are familiar with, and then open up. Access pan-life applications such as in-vehicle WeChat, car home interconnection, in-vehicle KTV, and in-car shopping. As for the underlying system and even the interface UI design, interaction logic, etc., it is difficult to keep up with the Chinese brand models. This may be their last stubbornness or the guarantee of their blood.

Therefore, for Huawei, a smart army that is ready to go, conquering seems not so easy. We hope that in the future, this horse can embed “Hi” into every overseas brand model sold in China. After all, it is beneficial to the country and the people. (Photo/Text Car Home Li Xiang)
