[YesAuto Recall] A few days ago, BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. and BMW Brilliance Automotive Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine in accordance with the requirements of the “Regulations on the Recall of Defective Automobile Products”. The decision was made on October 20, 2014. The recall includes a total of seven series of BMW 1 series, 3 series (import), X1 (import), 3 series GT, 5 series (import), X3, Z4, domestic 5 series long wheelbase version and domestic X1. 3942 vehicles.
(1) Some BMW 1 series, 3 series, 3 series GT, 5 series, X1, X3, Z4 cars imported by BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. from June 2012 to July 2013, totaling 3299 units;
(2) BMW Brilliance Automotive Co., Ltd. produced 643 domestically produced 5-series long-wheelbase and X1 cars from July 2012 to December 2012.
Reason for the recall: This recall is an extension of the recall launched on October 10, 2013 (click to view the previous recall article). There are design defects in the intake camshafts in the engine cylinder heads of some vehicles within the scope of the recall. When the engine is running, the oil seal inside the camshaft may shift. Offset will affect the oil supply of the vacuum pump. When the oil supply is severely lacking, the vacuum pump will be damaged due to insufficient lubrication, and the damage of the vacuum pump will cause the brake boost to drop, posing a safety hazard.
Solution: BMW Brilliance Automotive Co., Ltd. and BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. will measure the position of the sealing plate in the intake camshaft for vehicles within the recalled range. If it has shifted, replace the intake camshaft; if it is sealed If the plate does not deviate, a limit sleeve is installed inside the intake camshaft to fix the sealing plate. To eliminate safety hazards.
