The relationship between vehicle speed and braking distance

Friends who often watch the car home know that a car is reasonably reliable. The braking distance from 100 kilometers to zero should be up to 40 meters, but you must not think that you can also be within 40 meters in an emergency. Stop the car. It's not that our tester is inaccurate, but that when a situation occurs, our brain needs a reaction time of about 1 second at the fastest. So how far is it to drive for 1 second at a speed of 100 kilometers? 100000 meters ÷ 3600 seconds = 27.7 meters. So if you stop at a speed of 100 kilometers, you need more than 60 meters at the fastest, not 30 or 40 meters as we imagined.

Adjust the seat, warm up driving

Project 1: Emergency braking/target braking

They are not the same, so the driver should judge the braking point based on the position of the pile bucket and the speed of the vehicle.

In the first few times, everyone could not grasp the braking point, either stopping far away or knocking the obstacle pile barrel torsionally, but after many exercises, everyone's level has been significantly improved, and the best result is the pile barrel. The distance from the front of the car is less than 5cm, and the average student can also control it within 1 meter.

Project experience:

I think the biggest significance of this project is to make students feel more intuitive about full throttle and full brake. Project 2: Understeer correction (completely turn off DTC)

With DTC closed, this project passed a long-distance U-turn bend full of stagnant water at high speed. We first have to press and hold the DTC button on the central control for 3 seconds to turn off the vehicle's stability system. Then rush into low-adhesion corners at a higher speed to create and correct understeer.

The focus of this project is oil recovery and a slight reverse direction. Oil recovery is easier to understand, because the main cause of understeer is too fast, so there is nothing wrong with oil recovery. So why do you need to reverse the direction slightly? This is mainly to make the direction of the front wheels more consistent with the direction of centrifugal force, reduce the resultant force acting on the tires, and restore the grip of the tires as soon as possible.

Project experience:

After everyone experienced various correction failures, the coach asked everyone to turn on the DTC system during the last turn. The changes in vehicles can be said to be earth-shaking. Vehicles that were previously difficult to control have become very obedient and do not even give you the opportunity to cause artificial trouble. No matter how I slapped the direction or the floor oil, the vehicle is still moving steadily on the ground, so the biggest lesson from this project is that you should never turn off DTC and similar electronic stability programs, remember .

Project Three: Braking Line Change

This brake line change project can be said to be an upgraded version of the emergency braking project. In addition to decisively depressing the brake pedal at the braking point, we also need to perform emergency avoidance operations while decelerating.

If you brake at the brake point at the speed specified by the coach, you will definitely hit the two blue pile barrels in front of you if you don’t turn the direction, so we must complete the 180-degree rotation while decelerating (within 1 second) Turn left and turn right more than 180 degrees counterattack. The line here is very important. If it is too late for the first drive to the left, it will be difficult not to hit the pile bucket.

Project experience:

This project has a certain significance in actual driving. It allows us to more clearly realize the power of ABS. Even if the wheel is braked with full force, the wheel will not die suddenly, so we still have control over the vehicle. This method can be used when the brakes cannot be avoided with full braking. However, in the actual road, you have to make sure that there are no cars in the two lanes, otherwise the sudden merging may cause more serious accidents than a rear-end collision .

Project 4: Oversteer correction (completely turn off DTC)

The difficulty of this project is not small, even experienced training coaches can not guarantee 100% success. When the DTC is turned off and the manual mode is used for first gear, the torque of 250N·m is released without restraint. You only need to maintain the full throttle for one second, and you can feel that the rear of the car has been actively swayed. At this time (on the cut-off (no exaggeration)), you must quickly collect the oil and reverse the direction at the maximum angle. Success is not certain, it depends on the strength of the oversteer, the timing of the oil removal, and There are many factors such as the speed in the reverse direction.

The success rate of the students in this project is only one to two percent, and it is particularly difficult to even capture a group of successful photos. Most of the time, they turn around in place like the picture below. Of course, it won't work if the oil is collected too early and the direction is reversed, because that would not be able to complete a real drift-like oversteer correction.

Project experience:

It is another course of turning off DTC, accompanied by various failures and thrills, and at the end let you experience the various comforts of turning on DTC.
