From the launch of the Prius, the world's first mass-produced hybrid vehicle in 1997, to the end of January 2017, Toyota's cumulative sales of hybrid vehicles worldwide have exceeded 10 million.
The hybrid speedboat model built by Toyota is Ponam-28V, and the number represents the length of the speedboat is 28 feet (about 8.53 meters). Toyota Ponam-28V is Japan's first parallel hybrid speedboat.
Toyota PONAM-28V speedboat is equipped with a 3.0-liter engine with a maximum power of 260 horsepower. The 36kW electric motor is driven by an 11kWh lithium-ion battery pack, and the system has a comprehensive torque of 353 N·m.
The application of hybrid power system will help improve fuel economy, reduce emissions and noise. Toyota will provide the Tokyo Metropolitan Government with a PONAM-28V hybrid speedboat for free use from July 2018 to March 2021.
