[YesAuto design decoding] Baojun 730, Baojun 530, Baojun 510, Baojun 310… Baojun has built a lot of explosive models. Looking back on its brand history, I suddenly found that it has only been only 9 years, such a young brand gave it to Many people remember. This year it wants to use the name “Xin Baojun” to enhance its brand image. In April, the RS-5 with a new LOGO was born, and today it released a new model-RC-6. The young one does not have too much “tradition” to stick to, so in recent years it has often given people a bright design, and the same is true for the RC-6.

-It looks like this! ?

Born out of SAIC-GM-Wuling, Baojun was formally established in 2010. Headquartered in Liuzhou, Guangxi, far away from big cities, it understands China’s vast consumer groups better. It has developed rapidly with a “rural surrounding the city” posture, creating a lot of hits. Explosive cars demanded by consumers.

I wonder if you found it? The design of Baojun in the past few years can often be described by the word “innovation”. It is not only a breakthrough in appearance and interior design. Baojun has also actively tried many types of cars, from the first MPV and sedan to later Built SUVs and station wagons, and the RC-6 we are going to talk about today is a new variety.

We classify RC-6 as a medium-sized car, because from the perspective of wheelbase and body length, it is not much different from Changan Ruicheng CC, GAC Trumpchi GA6 and Geely Borui, but for consumers Will it really be compared with these competing cars? It's hard to say at the moment, because it looks a bit different.

Can you accept such crossover models? A few years ago, many consumers may not be able to accept this kind of “freak” that broke the tradition. However, as consumer demand continues to change, many products have begun to try to cross-border, and young people’s perception and aesthetics of cars are not as good as in the past. Similarly, such an RC-6 is obviously embracing young people. What kind of design team made such a bold decision?

Starting from RS-5, to the RM-5 and RC-6 seen today, Baojun wanted to show people with a brand new image like “Xin Baojun”, so he invested a lot of energy in styling design, including in Shanghai Establish a forward-looking design center to explore how a civilian brand can improve itself. The new LOGO and bold design language we see now are the masterpieces of Gao Chenwei and his design team.

-Why did RC-6 give up split headlights?

RC-6 does not use split headlights , which is the biggest difference between the front and RS-5. The split headlight design of RS-5 is very handsome, and it is also a popular design scheme of light group. But why didn't RC-6 inherit this design to maintain brand consistency ?

Although RC-6 is a crossover model with higher ground clearance than ordinary cars, the height of the engine compartment is still very different from that of SUVs. The country has standard requirements for the design height and lighting range of the headlights. Lights are directly related to the safety of driving at night, so if the RS-5 split headlight design is directly transplanted to RC-6, it may be difficult to comply with regulations.

In short, the front of the RC-6 does not have a particularly eye-catching design. It looks slightly ordinary without the split headlights. Of course, from another perspective, simplicity is also a kind of beauty, and the tail of the RC-6 also follows. Simple style.

Although the design of the detailed elements is very simple, the curved surface design of the tail makes the RC-6 not boring. Under different light and shadow effects, it will present the sense of hierarchy that the designer wants to express. However, these are not the points that I like it. Of course, the hatchback design depends on the moment the trunk door is opened, one word: handsome!

-There is also a big screen in the interior!

The interior design of the RC-6 is in line with the current consumer needs. It uses a large horizontal screen, combining the LCD instrument panel and the central control screen, which has a similar effect to the interior design of the Mercedes-Benz brand. The instrument panel looks more concise, and the driver does not need to turn his head up and down when viewing information on the central control screen (the screen position is designed to be higher), which improves driving safety.

What I have to say is that Baojun’s interior design is beginning to be refined. The materials and shapes reflect a sense of hierarchy. The air-conditioning vents are decorated with chrome, which is small and exquisite. In addition, the orange decorative lines make the instrument panel all at once. Be lively.

Vehicles with a fastback design will encounter a contradiction. The fastback style and rear head space are often not compatible. Is it better to look good or to have space? Let's take a look at how Baojun's designer solved it?

to sum up:

RS-5 represents the design of Baojun SUV, RM-5 represents the design of Baojun MPV, and RC-6 is a mid-size crossover style car. In the future, there will be compact cars RC-5, etc., young , Boldness, and continuous innovation are what Baojun’s styling design has given me in recent years. They were born under the “New Baojun” brand to meet the needs of young people. The appearance and interior have caught up with mainstream Chinese brands, and the product positioning is also In the upgrade, can it create explosive models again? Let's wait and see. Oh, right! RC-6 will be available in early September! Do you like this design and pay for it? Let's discuss it in the comment section. (Photographed by Liu Dong by Xia Zhimeng, Wenzhou Home)
