Xiaopeng Motors P7 has a lot of OTA projects this time, but the function upgrades are mainly concentrated in two aspects: one is the assisted driving part, and the other is the intelligent experience part.

Although P7 has just opened ACC, LCC and other assisted driving systems, I believe you are not unfamiliar with these functions, because there are too many models with these capabilities, so let’s take a look at the innovation of P7 in the intelligent interaction part. Before talking about the topic, let me share with you the OTA process of Xiaopeng Motors P7. Generally, the OTA upgrade of a vehicle cannot be solved in a few minutes, and some models cannot be locked during the manual OTA process. I have experienced the scene of waiting for the OTA in the car at midnight, so I suggest you take good care of the OTA prompts before choosing manual upgrade Or make an appointment to upgrade automatically. However, the P7 does a good job at this point. First, the system will prompt the user “cannot lock or drive during manual upgrade”. The first new feature I experienced after the completion of the vehicle OTA was the full-scenario voice; Zhao Hengyi, the voice manager of Xiaopeng Motors, believes that smart driving is a factor that distinguishes smart cars from ordinary cars, while in the car, voice interaction is the key point. . In previous exchanges, Zhao Hengyi said that the current business reach rate of many voice assistants (function realization ability, that is, what it can do) and the naturalness of interaction are in urgent need of improvement; in this OTA on P7, I found him The problems mentioned have been optimized to a large extent.

“Say it when you see it” is a key point in the full-scenario voice. One of the functions of this feature is to enable the voice assistant to achieve more functional control. To put it simply, in the five self-developed applications of navigation, music, air conditioning, car control, and system settings, the icons and buttons that appear on the screen can be replaced by touch through the voice assistant. In the past, voice assistants had more limited functions, such as being able to open and switch music, but could not realize the selection of playlists and the order of songs, but now the small P with the ability to “see and speak” can be realized.

In fact, the wake-up-free function is also a way to improve the naturalness of the interaction, avoiding the user to say “Hello little P, I want XXX” before each instruction. Of course, in order to achieve the effect of accurately and capturing instructions at any time, the voice assistant needs a lot of Order reserves in order to make correct judgments.

Speaking of natural interaction, the commands of many voice assistants are relatively fixed and rigid at present, and it may be impossible for users to make a mistake or say one less word. In the P7 full-scenario voice, users can give instructions relatively freely. Basically, you can say what you think about this instruction, so you can say it. This greatly reduces the difficulty of getting started and can also improve the user's goodwill.

Regarding voice, let's extend it a bit. Many people don't like full touch operation, they think it is not as convenient as traditional physical buttons/knobs, but from an engineer's point of view, this may be intentional. For voice assistants, it is still quite technically difficult to be awakened and visible, such as capturing ability, semantic understanding, language processing ability, etc., all need to reach a high level. Such a voice assistant is great, but it will definitely improve. At present, the small P also has a certain customization ability. This is the “anti-motion sickness mode”, this mode does not change the braking force of the vehicle, but the subjective feeling of the power output is similar to that of the economic mode, and the output is relatively flat, which brings a comfortable ride to the passengers. It can be seen from the list of assisted driving functions in the car that the P7 currently only opens some assisted driving functions, but the functions like adaptive cruise and lane keeping are basically more commonly used, so it can meet the needs of users, but I am still very I hope P7 can open active brakes as soon as possible. In terms of the actual experience of assisted driving, the performance of the P7 is not significantly better than other competing models of the same level, but it can indeed reach the mainstream level, and it has also made some progress compared with the Xiaopeng Motors G3.

Xiaopeng Motors P7's adaptive cruise following distance can be adjusted in 6 gears. There are really not many models that can give users so many choices. However, even at the 1st gear following distance, the distance between the P7 and the vehicle in front is relatively long, so Probably few users will use the farther following distance gear. Another good point is that the vehicle rarely accelerates or decelerates in adaptive cruise, and the experience is good.

In addition, regarding lane keeping, the P7 can keep driving in the middle of the lane relatively steadily, and the steering wheel is not too much to fine-tune the direction, and the experience is better. When the vehicle is driving on a road with poor lighting conditions, the lane keeping system can still better recognize the lane line. We have done an assisted driving test of Xiaopeng Motors G3 before. In the lane change assist part, the G3's lane change logic is more cautious, and the lane change rhythm is slightly slower. On the P7, the safety redundancy of the lane change assist system is also large. The vehicle is allowed to change lanes only when the vehicle is far away from the front and rear of the target lane; however, the P7 has better lane change efficiency and smoothness than G3 Ascension, we can think that it is closer to the lane changing operation of a real driver.

Although the current assisted driving functions of Xiaopeng Motors P7 are not rich, don't worry, the hardware level of the car is sufficient to support it to achieve higher-level assisted driving. In the assisted driving hardware part, the P7 has 14 cameras, 12 ultrasonic radars, 5 millimeter wave radars, dual-frequency high-precision GPS, and it supports high-precision maps and V2X technology; at the same time on the computing unit, the car is equipped with NVIDIA DRIVE Xavier's deep learning computing power (DL TOPS) has reached 30 Tops.
