● What is the V2X car networking communication technology?

V2X is the abbreviation of Vehicle to X (literally means vehicles and other objects). The expansion of this communication technology can be divided into Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V), Vehicle to Infrastructure Communication (Vehicle to Infrastructure Communication, Referred to as V2I) and vehicle to pedestrian communication (Vehicle to Pedestrian, referred to as V2P) and many other small items. General Motors first demonstrated its vehicle-to-vehicle communication concept (V2V) to the world in 2005. In 2016, it demonstrated various functions that can be achieved by V2X technology in the closed road of the Intelligent Networking Demonstration Zone in Jiading District, Shanghai. ● Is it difficult to implement V2X vehicle networking communication?

At present, the global car companies are mainly divided into two camps in the research and development process of V2X car networking: DSRC (dedicated short-range communication)-based V2X technology and cellular network-based C-V2X, but in contrast, the latter due to capacity, Time delay and stronger anti-interference ability, and China plans to realize the commercial deployment of 5G communication nationwide in 2020, so China's V2X is basically determined to be realized through mobile communication technology (cellular network).

On September 18, 2017, the “Cooperative Intelligent Transportation System Vehicle Communication System Application Layer and Application Data Interaction Standard” jointly formulated by General Motors, Changan Automobile, Tsinghua University and other units led by the China Intelligent Connected Automobile Industry Innovation Alliance also Officially released. In addition to getting through hardware equipment providers such as OEMs, smart terminal manufacturers, and network service providers, massive traffic information needs to be provided from various government departments and other information. It is also a very challenging task to aggregate all the information into a unified platform and send it to a large number of on-board terminals.

In order to enable enterprises to develop and test V2X applications under a unified specification, and facilitate the collection and transmission of massive data after large-scale commercial applications in the future, September 18, 2017, “Cooperative Intelligent Transportation System Vehicle Communication System “Application Layer and Application Data Interaction Standard” was officially released. The “standard” is led by the China Intelligent Connected Automobile Industry Innovation Alliance and jointly formulated with General Motors, Chang'an Automobile, Tsinghua University and other units. It has a good effect on the large-scale road test and industrialization of V2X.

● When can we enjoy the convenience brought by V2X?

Regarding this issue, mobile communication service providers and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology have already told us that the three major operators have started to work on 5G one after another, and there is news that 5G will be commercially available in 2020. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology mentioned in the “Strategy” (Draft for Comments) that it is expected that the proportion of new smart cars will reach 50% in 2020, and mid-to-high-level smart cars (cars with L3 level and above autonomous driving functions) can achieve marketization Application, if all goes well, I believe that the V2X era is not far away from us.

In terms of vehicle models, GM revealed that the V2X system on its models is also on the agenda. It is expected that in 2023, the first Cadillac model equipped with V2X function will be launched in the United States. The system will inevitably be equipped in more and more models in the future. on. With the popularization of the system and the increase of data volume, V2X will inevitably get a healthy development.

However, from the current situation, there are still some bottlenecks in V2X. For example, in the vehicle-infrastructure communication (V2I) item, the vehicle needs to receive information from signal lights, tidal lanes, etc., which requires the road administration department to transform the infrastructure. And the data is connected to the V2X information system, and the amount of engineering is huge. However, considering that policy and technical problems are gradually being overcome, and the progress of infrastructure transformation will also be accelerated, the commercial application of V2X may be just around the corner.
