[YesAuto News] Zotye Auto has begun to deploy in the US market, and may become the first auto company to sell Chinese-owned passenger cars to the US. Recently, foreign media reported that Zotye Automobile will launch an economical crossover in the United States in 2020, the first model or the T600, which was launched in 2013 as early as possible. At present, Zotye Auto International has begun to recruit dealers in the United States and hired two import business professionals. The first batch of 20 franchised dealers is scheduled to be announced next month.

The person who provided the news was the head of the American HAAH Automobile Holding Company named Duke Hale, who had worked in Mazda and Volvo Cars. HAAH Automotive Holdings was established in 2014 to create a US sales network for overseas brands. Its first customer is W Motors in Dubai (which produces sports cars), and Zotye Motors is its second customer.

Affected by the Sino-US trade relationship, Zotye Auto does not rule out facing 25% tariffs in the United States, but Hale said: “Although the tariffs on US cars imported from China will increase, this will not stop our transactions.” In addition, Hale also mentioned that it will use different forms to help Zotye Auto promote in the United States-it will be a more flexible way that is different from the traditional model.

In fact, many Chinese car companies are looking for opportunities to enter the US market, including GAC passenger cars. As early as January 2015, GAC Group, as the only Chinese independent brand, entered the Detroit Auto Show and spent more than three years studying relevant laws and regulations in North America. At the beginning of 2018, GAC Trumpchi participated in the 2018 National Automobile Dealers Conference (NADA) and communicated with more than 150 North American dealer representatives. However, as the Sino-US trade was cold, this plan was postponed to around 2020.

At present, it seems that Zotye Auto is still actively advancing its deployment in the United States. Whether it will be assisted by Ford is still unknown, but it is well known that the two parties have planned to establish two joint ventures, a pure electric joint venture and an intelligent mobility technology company. Cooperation may continue to deepen. However, there is no specific news about whether Zotye will launch new energy vehicles in the United States.

Zotye Auto told the editor of Autohome that Zotye Auto is indeed actively advancing the process of product internationalization. The signing of the agreement with HAAH Automotive Holdings of the United States for Zotye Automobiles to enter the US market will provide certain support for the electrification, intelligence, networking and sharing of Zotye products.
