[YesAuto Design Decoding] Zhiji Auto is also a young car brand. In recent years, many new car brands have emerged one after another. Some of them have been forgotten by us, and some have been accepted and discussed by us. Can consumers remember it? Its appearance played a big role. Let's take a look at the styling design of Zhiji L7 and LS7. After reading the article, please leave your own evaluation!

Xu Dengtao is currently the director of the Zhiji Automobile Design Center. He and I said that the working mode of the Zhiji team is very different from that of traditional car companies, and the R&D and design of the L7 and LS7 are the same. “Our work model is not like a traditional car company, each department is busy with each other, but a bit like a project system, each department has individuals, and brainstorming together to make a function point.”

If you carefully observe and summarize the design of new cars in recent years, there is a trend in front styling: “X”-like front face elements are very popular, and the Zhiji L7 and LS7, which are currently in non-production state, seem to follow this. trend.

There are many cases of other brands adopting similar “X”-shaped front face models, such as:

In order to emphasize intelligence, they added “black technology” to the headlights: 2.6 million pixel DLP projection headlights + 5000 LED ISC pixel signal lights. We have previously explained similar things in Maybach S-class and WEY VV6 models. Projection headlights (click here to jump). The light group of Zhiji L7 has added a visualization function, which can display some animations for communication with other traffic participants.

The LS7's front is more rounded than the L7, and the headlights have a Ferrari-like shape. The rear light of the car has also increased the horizontal width, which carries more information and has a better look and feel.

We don't need to explain too much about the dazzling technology of these lights. After all, whether it is good or not can only be objectively evaluated after mass production in the future, not to mention that it does not meet the requirements of China's traffic laws. From the perspective of styling design, it belongs to the currently popular split headlights. The near and far light sources are hidden in a certain blackened lamp cavity, giving people a strong overall sense.

With the increase of sensors on the car body, how to hide them well has become a subject for styling designers. Ultrasonic sensors, millimeter wave radars, front cameras, panoramic cameras, etc., while satisfying functions and performance, it is not easy to “hide” aesthetically.

Data-driven products are a core idea proposed by Zhiji Auto. Through the monitoring of a variety of sensors inside and outside the car, the user's usage of various functions and scenarios of the vehicle (without privacy) is collected, and based on these data, we can design changes, next-generation products and even future development routes. Therefore, it is not surprising that we can see so many sensors on the L7 and LS7.

At present, the drag coefficient of the L7 vehicle is 0.21. I could have promoted this ultra-low drag data because it is already a very good result in a pure electric car. Unexpectedly, the veteran German Mercedes-Benz still stole the limelight, and the newly released EQS reached a drag coefficient of 0.20, occupying an advantage of 0.01. However, Xu Dengtao said that before Zhiji L7 mass production, they still have some room for improvement, and we will wait and see if they can finally challenge the EQS results.

The rear of the car has a detail of design compromise engineering manufacturing: in the design stage, Zhiji did not intend to incorporate the taillights into the shape of the “duck tail”. Originally, the taillights wanted to be lower, but the metal is difficult to ensure high in that position. Under the premise of consistency, an ideal and round chamfer is made. During the manufacturing process, it is easy to cause air to form a turbulent flow at the tail, which affects aerodynamics. I tried many times and found that only the resin material of the lampshade can make rounded corners. To avoid this problem, the current design of the taillight was decided.

Regarding the interior design of Zhiji Automobile, we can learn about it through the current state of L7 (LS7 did not announce the interior). The L7 uses a large screen that spreads across the entire dashboard. New cars with this layout are now uncommon, but it is rare to use only two screens to join together (most of them use three screens to stitch together to meet car-level screens. It's hard to make a big one).

to sum up:

Lei Jun once explained what Internet thinking is, summarizing it in 7 words: focus, extreme, word of mouth, and fast. Car companies are also talking about “Internet thinking or user thinking”, the last word Lei Jun said I think many car companies have done it. The development cycle of new cars has been greatly reduced. After the Roewe Marvel X, SAIC soon hit the higher-end electric car market again. Zhiji Auto is the “independent group” that SAIC rushed out this year. As the first echelon L7 and LS7 will soon be mass-produced in front of us. What is your opinion on its design?
