  7. Towards practical evolution test...

[YesAuto Professional Evaluation] Liwei, ranked eighth in our small car focus list. In my impression, I haven't talked about this car for a long time. I took it out today because after the replacement of Tiida and Teana, Liwei finally had a new model last month.

If the car is compared to a living thing, then its renewal also follows the “Evolution Theory”, and “natural selection” is the fundamental driving force for the evolution of all living things. As far as the car is concerned, the market determines its destiny, and life must continue to evolve if it wants to continue. It has been 6 years since Liwei went public in 2007, and it should have changed.

How old car owners evaluate Liwei

“Old Yan, what were the main points you considered when buying a car?” “To save fuel, have more space, better workmanship, the key is that the price should not be too expensive!” I believe these points are also the majority of consumers Demand when buying a car.

The fuel consumption and space in the car for the past three years have made Lao Yan quite satisfied. The daily driving fuel consumption is about 6 liters/100 kilometers. Due to the needs of work, the trunk is often loaded with some equipment. When buying a car, I also value the large space in the trunk of Liwei. this point.

The appearance changes of the new and old Liwei are quite obvious. The front face adds a sense of fashion. The shape of the China grid is similar to that of Loulan, and the difference in the rear is concentrated on the taillights. Another focus is on the brakes. All the old Liwei models use the front and rear drum brake structure. The two luxury models of the new Liwei Jinrui version use front and rear disc brakes. This makes the old car owner very envious. His old Liwei The whole series are front and back drums.

The old Yan who got into the car immediately noticed three differences between the new and old models. The first is the style of the dashboard, which is not only more beautiful, but the information displayed by the trip computer is also a lot more; second is the CD head, the old Liwei The style of the CD head is old, and the buttons and knobs are small. The new CD head is much more beautiful and easier to operate. In addition to these, the original 6 speakers were accidentally reduced to 4 speakers, which is a bit uncomfortable.

●The power system is the highlight of New Liwei

Aside from the evolution of appearance and interior, I think you will pay more attention to the power system. The displacement of the new Liwei is still 1.6L, but it is replaced with the same HR16DE engine as Tiida, with variable valve timing technology and optimized fuel injection nozzles, which can theoretically improve fuel combustion efficiency. From the perspective of parameters, the power And the torque is higher than the old engine (the power is increased by 19 horsepower and the torque is increased by 3 N·m).

Although the original 4AT gearbox has good smoothness and logic, it is outdated from the current eye. The new Liwei automatic transmission is equipped with a CVT continuously variable gearbox, and the smoothness and transmission efficiency have been improved.

Measured fuel consumption (run-in period)

During the entire fuel consumption test, we drove 164.2 kilometers, of which the traffic jam was about 35%. The measured combined fuel consumption was 7.3 liters/100 kilometers, which was slightly higher than the 7 liters/100 kilometers displayed by the trip computer. Our test car was only driving. For a pure new car of 800 kilometers, the fuel consumption will be reduced after the running-in period. For most consumers, this result is completely acceptable.

Daily driving experience: driving very briskly in the city

The most prominent feeling Xin Liwei gave me in daily driving is its lightness. It speeds up very lightly on the city loop with a speed limit of 80 km/h. The gearbox controls the speed well within a reasonable range, and just puts pressure on the accelerator pedal. Can get a good response. The settings of the accelerator and brake pedals are quite satisfactory. The entire stroke is very linear. There is no phenomenon of “swinging” when you lightly tap the accelerator or “nodding” when you lightly step on the brake. It can be adapted in minutes.

But the brisk driving feel does not bring the watch. It is good at rapid acceleration, and it is not good in this regard. When I stepped on the accelerator suddenly while driving, the sound of the engine's rushing work sounded in my ears, but the actual reality was not excited enough. What Liwei is best at is the mid-range acceleration within 80 km/h. Everything is calm in this interval. When the speed soared above 100 km/h, its acceleration showed some reluctance.

This CVT continuously variable transmission provides a SPORT mode. In this mode, the throttle becomes more alert and the speed is controlled in a higher range. There is no hesitation in the release of power. Of course, the noise is quite obvious, usually when overtaking. It's also worth using.

The electric power steering is not as light and insensitive as you think, and the small and powerful feedback is moderate. Compared with the old model, the toughness of the suspension has been significantly improved, and the filter for bumps is more in place, there is no feeling of thinness at all, and it is more comfortable to sit in the car.

Various performance test results: in line with expectations

The new Liwei equipped with a CVT gearbox started without any skidding at full speed. The speed was maintained at about 5500rpm. The entire acceleration process was very smooth and no burst point was found. This is the characteristic of a CVT gearbox. The acceleration of 11.57 seconds is a fairly satisfactory level. As a family car, it is also fully qualified. As far as this car is concerned, it is far more important to drive well than to run fast.

Test video:

The actual braking distance of Liwei is 42.71 meters, and the ABS system action reacts obviously on the brake pedal, and it can feel the high-frequency “spring feet”. The adjustment of the comfortable suspension cannot provide strong support in the face of the shift of the center of gravity during emergency braking, so the body posture is slightly exaggerated. In the continuous test, the results are relatively stable, and the foot feel of the brake pedal has not changed significantly.

Other regular experiences in the car

The steering wheel of the new Liwei has only high and low adjustments. It has a good grip. The center console is made of hard materials and the workmanship is good. It meets the standards of a joint venture model at this price. There are no surprises in the entire interior part. Everything is simple and practical. Mainly.

The buttons and knobs of the new CD head feel good, and the larger button size is conducive to accurate operation while driving, but the new Liwei still only provides AUX interface, and is not equipped with a more convenient USB interface, which is particularly regrettable. The internal and external circulation of the manual air conditioner is switched to manual mechanical lever. The style does not look very good, but there is really no inconvenience in use. The two gears feel clear and not jerky when toggled.

The depth of the two cup holders in the front row is very suitable, and the water bottles placed in them are very stable. The small storage slot next to the handbrake is very convenient, the size is suitable for the mobile phone, and the location is also reasonable, you can get it at hand. The space of the glove box is also practical, which can fully meet the needs of daily driving.

Because the model is positioned under Tiida, it is also affected by cost. Except that the inner side of the center console door is also made of hard materials, the flannel covering a small area is not filled with very soft materials, and the touch is normal, and the lines are not of high grade. Only the main driving window is one-key lift, which is what we expected.

Experiencers with a height of 185cm took a punch in the headroom of Liwei's front row. The seat has no characteristics, the legs are well supported, and the backrest is soft, which is quite satisfactory. The wheelbase of 2600mm provides the experiencer with three-finger legroom, and the head margin is more than one punch. If the driver is under 180cm, then a 190cm tall guy like me in the back can also be fully ridden without being cramped. There is a small bulge on the floor in the middle of the back row, and the space under the feet is relatively large. Passengers sitting in the middle do not need to curl up and feel wronged, but the lack of a headrest somewhat affects ride comfort.

The trunk is still a big highlight of Liwei, and car owners also value it very much. The space has been significantly expanded after the rear seats are down. Frankly speaking, many small business users take Liwei to solicit goods. During the experience, we found that the trunk partitions of the new Liwei and the old Liwei are different. The old model has two hard partitions, both of which have the ability to carry objects, while the new Liwei has become a hard partition, which is slightly more practical. There is a reduction.

New Liwei still focuses on the entry-level family car market, and it is also quite competent in terms of its actual performance. The large space is sufficient for daily rides and small-scale family transportation. After replacing the new engine and gearbox, fuel economy and driving comfort have been improved, and the brisk urban road driving feeling can be recognized by the vast majority of pragmatic family car consumers. In terms of product competitiveness, it has its own advantages in space compared with POLO, Jingrui and Fit.

Liwei has also divided into two market segments for its own products, the regular version and the Jinrui version. The price of the normal version without decoration kits is low, and many users who are small businesses and demanding goods value its cost-effectiveness; the Jinrui version It looks more fashionable and more suitable for young family car consumers.
