Last year, my colleague Zhang Ge went to the United States to report on the exhibition. When he came back, whenever he mentioned the exhibition, he always looked like he had been to the future.
At the beginning of this year, CES arrived as scheduled, but I missed the opportunity to travel to the United States. Just as Zhang Ge once again “showed off” my last experience, I received an invitation letter from the Asian CES in Shanghai…
Zhang Ge has told me countless times that the protagonists here are all kinds of new technologies, inventions, and gadgets. Therefore, after entering the exhibition hall, my little selfishness, I decided to simply stroll around and see the theoretical protagonists of these exhibitions— -Consumer electronics products.
After browsing briefly, I found that the condition of the exhibits did not seem to be as high, precise and sharp as I imagined. The shocking skills Zhang Ge said may be the reason why the “visa” has not been completed. There was a voice in my heart telling me, “Or, let's go to the N2 hall to see what the car companies have brought.”
Although in overseas CES exhibitions, the technology and products brought by car companies can only appear in the image of supporting roles, but the technology they brought this time is definitely taller in comparison. Since the detailed display content of this exhibition has been interpreted before, I will not repeat it here. However, here I still want to talk about some content beyond the technical level. That is, although the positioning of car companies is different, they all use smart driving, vehicles and wearable devices, and wireless charging as the main theme of the display.
● Intelligent Autonomous Driving
Not only the overseas CES, but also the protagonist of technology at the just-concluded Shanghai Auto Show. From a technical point of view, the active safety system in the current models sold on the market is considered to be the primary intelligent autonomous driving technology, and some car companies have begun to test the intelligent autonomous driving technology on open roads in Europe and North America.
Mercedes-Benz, which has also invested a lot in autonomous driving technology, is much more pragmatic. In 2013, a modified Mercedes-Benz S500 used intelligent autonomous driving technology to safely drive from Stuttgart to Frankfurt. Although city streets don’t have a racetrack that can test how computers control the limits of vehicles, its complexity is not as simple as a racetrack.
The successful completion of the challenge of S500 makes many people believe that autonomous driving will soon come to us, but in fact, this technology is still a long way from popularization. The traffic environment in different countries and regions is quite different. As far as the current autonomous driving technology is concerned, it is not yet able to fully intelligently judge and make choices based on road conditions.
In other words, the current autonomous driving technology does not have the same capabilities as artificial AI. The judgments it makes are all to compare the existing situation with the information database previously stored in the system, and then select the most appropriate processing method. . Therefore, this requires R&D personnel to enter a large number of different regions, different traffic conditions and people's handling methods for the system. Mercedes-Benz has brought their test vehicles to collect Chinese road conditions this time.
Improving the operation logic, collecting road condition information from multiple locations, etc. are all topics that R&D personnel are conquering, and there is still a long way to go from real mass production. If you adjust the driving experience that everyone feels comfortable, how to compress it We didn't find answers to these questions such as equipment size, how to reduce misjudgments, etc. at the exhibition.
● Smart wearable devices
If the smart autonomous driving mentioned above still feels a bit tall, then wearable devices will have to be more grounded. Prior to this, the Android operating system camp launched wearable devices led by Moto 360 and Samsung Gear Fit. Subsequently, Apple also launched the Apple Watch. Naturally, car companies will not ignore the market-making cake, so we have recently heard about the development of related apps by many car companies. At this CES, we saw OnStar also began to set foot in this field.
● Wireless charging
Just a few days before the launch of CES, Beijing announced the unlimited number of new energy vehicles. This is another good news after the no-lottery policy. However, charging of pure electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid models is still not convenient. Most people live in an environment that does not have the conditions to install a charging pile, so what should be done?
In order to avoid the constraints of wiring, many car companies have introduced non-contact charging, which is what we often call wireless charging. However, wireless charging also has its own shortcomings, that is, the problem of low charging efficiency. If it takes 8 hours to fully charge the new energy vehicle using the 220V physical circuit at home, if you choose wireless charging, this time will be extended by at least one third.
In addition, for non-contact charging systems, the charging efficiency of the power supply and power receiving coils will be affected when they are staggered or separated by a certain distance. After calculation, when the vehicle's lateral deviation is within 10cm, the longitudinal deviation is within 5cm, and the angle deviation is less than 2°, the system can only charge at an efficiency of 80-90%. In actual use, it means that the vehicle is parked. The parking must be correct, which is tantamount to increasing annoyance for drivers who are not proficient in parking technology, and the technology displayed by Audi at this CES exhibition may change this situation.
