As the second model of Xiaopeng Motors, the P7 is very different from the previous G3 in terms of appearance and interior. However, the two cars have been consistent in terms of car and machine systems. Both cars use Qualcomm Snapdragon 820A chips with the Xmart OS 2.5.0 operating system independently developed by Xiaopeng.

Human-computer interaction

In the OTA update of Xmart OS 2.1.0 released in 2020, Xiaopeng Motors P7 has opened a new “full scene voice control” function. It is mainly composed of four functions: continuous dialogue, visible to speak, semantic interruption, and dual-zone locking.

As for the difference between speech recognition and speech analysis, you can simply understand that the former is for the car to accurately recognize every word you say, and the latter is for the car to understand the meaning of these words.

It sounds easy. In fact, there are two difficulties with this technology: one is how to recognize various noises from vehicle driving and playing music and other sound sources; the other is how to avoid misrecognition of conversations between occupants in the car It is a voice control instruction.

The comparison of the sound picked up by the microphone array can also strengthen the noise reduction capability of the whole set of speech recognition technology. Help the system extract clean human voices for accurate recognition.

One of the most important reasons why many people hate voice communication in the car with the car is that the traditional voice interaction communication is relatively inefficient. You need to wake up first and then talk, and the recognition rate is often a point of “persuade”.

In terms of recognition rate, the performance of Xiaopeng Motors P7 is quite satisfactory. In the standard sentence test of the Autohome Intelligent Vehicle Test, it can achieve an 80% recognition accuracy rate. Even in the face of some difficult problems, although it cannot be implemented, it can correctly identify and give feedback. For example, in the face of voice commands that cannot be executed such as “open the sunroof” (Xpeng Motors P7 does not have sunroof configuration), the car can still be correctly recognized. If you insist on saying something insufficient, the feedback from the car and machine still seems a little monotonous in the face of some temporarily unable to complete instructions. Obviously, the experience will be better if the preset replies can be made richer and more diverse through the OTA function in the future.

In addition to recognition capabilities, the range and breadth that can be controlled by voice is also the focus of the full-scene voice interaction technology of Xiaopeng Motors P7. Simply put, almost all the menus, buttons, switches and controls of some functions inside and outside the car that we can see can be realized by voice.

The official explanation is that taking into account the fast iteration of the hardware of the driving recorder, the original factory built-in is difficult to meet the increasing needs of users, so it is not provided. The final solution is to reserve the interface, which can be regarded as avoiding the trouble of wiring.

The official provides three modes to choose from. The most common is the sharing mode. At this time, the headrest speaker does not make any sound, and all sounds are transmitted from the speaker in the car.

The last private mode is that all music, navigation and call sounds are emitted from the headrest speaker. This mode is very friendly to passengers in the car who want to take a nap.

Function realization

Many friends know that Xiaopeng Motors is an Alibaba company, so the navigation part is naturally equipped with a high-tech map.

Many traditional car navigation volume cannot be adjusted individually, which will cause a problem: if the music playback volume is turned on too low, the navigation sound will not be heard; if you want to hear the navigation sound, the music volume will become very loud. Very noisy.

In addition, the conventional parking assist functions are also relatively complete. For example, a 360° panoramic image from a bird's-eye view and a dynamic auxiliary line.

In addition to some regular functions, we also found some interesting small functions on Xiaopeng Motors P7. For example, a light dance system that can enliven the atmosphere.

After clicking the appointment to play, the system will also give the option of delaying the play, so that the owner can lead his friends out of the car to observe. In particular, considering the possible nuisance to the people, Xiaopeng Motors P7 also allows you to choose whether to increase the volume of music playback and whether to lower the window to “play outside”.

Service ecology

At present, mainstream smart cars basically divide the service ecology into two types, one is the more “heavy” application, which is what we often call APP, and the other is the small program that focuses on “light experience”. The most intuitive difference between the two is whether to enter the full screen to operate.

Communication Favorability

As mentioned earlier, the voice system of Xiaopeng Motors P7 is one of the main promotional points of this model. So it has indeed made a lot of effort in communication. Different from NIO's physical voice assistants NOMI and Tesla, which do not require “personality” at all, the Xiaopeng P7 chooses to set up a virtual voice assistant “P” in the car to enhance the goodwill of the interaction.

Today's in-vehicle voice interaction function is no longer what it was a few years ago. It needs to speak a fixed command sentence in a straightforward manner. A more natural “human-like” communication method has become a new goal of the industry. In this regard, the performance of “Little P” is also good. Whether it is a slightly accent or a colloquial expression, the recognition rate and feedback are relatively satisfactory.
