[YesAuto News] According to foreign media reports, Belarusian-UK joint venture Unison recently signed a contract with China Zotye Automobile in Qingdao for a total of 560 million U.S. dollars. The two parties will organize the production of electric vehicles in Belarus and plan to be in Belarus by 2022. Assemble and produce 30,000 highly localized Zotye electric vehicles.
Subsequently, Zotye Automobile officials also confirmed to us the news of this cooperation, saying that the signing ceremony was held during the participation of Belarusian President Lukashenko in the economic cooperation conference in Qingdao. However, Zotye Automobile said that the US$560 million cooperation actually includes two aspects of “traditional gasoline vehicles and electric vehicles”. The cooperation content includes the construction of overseas KD production lines and the supply of KD parts. The cooperative products are T600, Z500EV, E200 and T300 is mainly sold to SCO member states such as Belarus, Russia, and Kazakhstan. Belarus also expressed that it is very much looking forward to the entry of Zotye's new energy vehicles into Belarus.
Data show that in 2017, Zotye exported 25,000 vehicles, and it is expected that exports will reach 40,000 in 2018. In terms of new energy, in 2017, Zotye’s new energy vehicle sales totaled 36,979, a year-on-year decline of 4.8%, but the popular model Zotye E200’s annual sales were 16,751, a year-on-year increase of 27%, and the 2018 E200 was also officially launched in November last year.
On May 2nd, Zotye Auto and Ford Smart Mobility Co., Ltd. (Ford Smart Mobility) signed a memorandum of cooperation in Shanghai.
